2110 Mid Century Modern : Along with the expansion and renovation of this 1950's mid century modern house, a new landscape was designed and implemented to compliment the architecture. The design approach aimed to incorporate strong lines, simple planes, controlled views, and a refined materials palette. The updated landscape includes an entry court composed of a combination of cut bluestone and ipe decking. Masses and hedges of plants soften the edges, define space, and provide a space for a future sculpture. The back showcases an ipe deck that gracefully opens up to a raised, flattened back lawn terrace. One of the ipe steps from the deck turns into a seat wall with a cut limestone wall. A bluestone patio is punctuated with an on-grade, low profile fire pit.
